The council is in charge of looking after the roads around your school. One of our biggest concerns is to make sure the roads are safe for all road users.
What can we do to make things safer for walkers and cyclists so people don’t need to drive as much?
- Warning Signs e.g. School Zone Slow Down
- Speed Limits
- Road Bumps
- Crossings – Zebra crossings, Pelican Crossings etc
- Cycle Lanes
We also help with things like cycle parking and training so you are safe on your bike and you have somewhere safe to leave it.
Outside of schools we are also trying to persuade people to cycle or take public transport to work – further reducing the amount of traffic on the road.
