Many schools take the advantage of this school wide project to link it in with the curriculum and other schemes such as Healthy Schools or Eco Schools. There is now a huge range of resources available for teachers in virtually every subject who want to bring the travel plan process into the classroom.
A large body of guidance material, resources and sample lesson plans now exists to help you link the travel plan process into your national curriculum.
The website www.saferoutestoschools.org.uk , run by the charity SUSTRANS is a great place to start. They have gathered together a number of teaching resources for subjects across the curriculum, many of which are available free on registration. Click below for their teaching resource home page.
Teachernet contains links and advice regards linking travel to the curriculum, as well as general school travel planning guidance.
The Department for Transport has a database containing a number of lesson plans, mainly related to road safety in general, that you might want to use or adapt:
