If you are concerned about these issues your first step is to inquire at your school as to whether they have a School Travel Plan in place. You can look for information about your school in our Travel Hub section.
If they don’t already have a plan, ask the headteacher to look at writing one, and consider volunteering your services as a parent representative. There are financial incentives available for all maintained schools who complete travel plans – typically around £5,000 for a primary school, and £10,000 for a secondary.
